From Bio-waste to Bio-cosmetics: HELASA Micellar Gel

In the Botanical Garden in Belgrade, on April 25, the HELASA micellar cleansing gel, the result of innovative scientific research, was officially presented. This project, based on the principles of a circular economy, was developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Biology at the University of Belgrade and the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy (ICTM), with the support of UNDP through the program "EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia."

The team of scientists behind this significant achievement includes: Dr. Danka Bukvički (project leader) and Dr. Ana Alimpić Aradski from the Faculty of Biology, as well as our colleagues Dr. Nataša Jović-Jovičić, Dr. Predrag Banković, and Dr. Marija Ajduković from ICTM.

Their joint work led to the development of an innovative micellar gel formulation, based on medicinal plants and biochar, providing an environmentally sustainable alternative in the field of bio-cosmetics.

HELASA is more than cosmetics – it is a symbol of science in the service of sustainability.

Project Polygraph presented at the Heart Failure 2025 Congress

A global congress on acute heart failure - Heart Failure 2025 was held from May 17 to 20, 2025, in Belgrade, bringing together leading experts in cardiology from around the world. Within this event, members of the Polygraph project, which is being implemented with the support of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, within the PRIZMA program, presented their achievements to date, demonstrating a potentially impactful contribution to modern medical diagnostics. The project was presented at the Science Fund booth.

Visitors to the congress had the opportunity to get acquainted with innovative solutions developed by the researchers gathered around the project, with a special focus on advanced pulse measurement sensors. Through direct communication with the team members, the participants could learn more about the technical characteristics of the device, the potential of its application in clinical practice, as well as the directions of further development of this technology. Participation in the congress represents an important step towards better integration of scientific research into the health system and the promotion of domestic innovations on the international stage.
