One of the founding centers of IHTM (Institute of Technical Sciences of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts). The Center is recognized in the global scientific community for its research and expertise in the synthesis and characterization of electrocatalytic materials, electroplating, electrometallurgy, corrosion and corrosion protection.
The Center for Electrochemistry (CEH) has 34 employees – 26 PhDs and 7 researchers – PhD students, including 11 principal research fellow, 8 senior research associates, and 7 research associates.
The Center's core activity is fundamental and technical-technological scientific research in the field of electrochemistry and electrochemical engineering. Research at the Center is based on state-of-the-art methods in the fields of electrode process kinetics, electrochemical deposition and dissolution of metals, corrosion protection, fuel cells, supercapacitors, electroanalytical chemistry of drugs and electrochemical sensors, as well as the electrochemistry of polymeric materials, building materials, and biocomposites. The Center's mission also includes developing new electrochemical technologies and procedures, promoting international cooperation in the aforementioned fields, and contributing to the development of university education in Serbia.
A high level of research on current topics in electrochemistry, modern equipment, and connections with leading institutions in the field of electrochemistry worldwide make the CEH research staff internationally recognized, which is also reflected through participation in renowned scientific organizations such as the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE), COST, and membership on the organizing committees of symposia (ISE, YuCorr...).
