Department of Remediation

Department of remediation is a part of scientific institute ICTM-a is focused in research of:

  • application of bioremediation in elimination of dangerous toxic substances from the environment
  • implementation of thionic bacteria on sulfide substrates - biohydrotechnology

The top of our research is bioremediation of soil contaminated by oil and other organic pollutants.

Department of Remediation is the part of Scientific Institution Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy which deals with removal of pollution from environmental media such as soil, groundwater or surface water for the general protection of human health. It was founded in May 2008 at the initiative:

Department of Remediation conducts research focused on characterization, monitoring and modeling contaminated environments, with an emphasis on bioremediation - process that uses natural activity of microorganisms for reduction of concentration and/or toxicity of various chemical substances such as petroleum derivatives, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, industrial solvents and base organic raw materials, pesticides, metals and metalloids.

Our projects are both basic and applied, and include laboratory studies and scaling up to preindustrial level (molecular studies to full-scale field investigations), and that employ expertise in various disciplines (chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, biogeochemistry).

Department of Remediation is committed to implementation of “green technologies” in environmental quality improvement as part of environmental biotechnology which is one of key link of industrial biotechnology.

Department of Remediation is able to offer bioremediation of contaminated sites as a part of remediation strategies.
